REFLECTION

EXPERIENCES

Learning Advanced Typography was quite a rewarding experience for me as I get to enhanced my design skills and have a deeper understanding on Advanced Typography. Starting a new module on Advanced typography was like entering a secret world that I never knew existed. At first, I didn't know that we can learn and be so creative with just fonts, but it quickly turned into a fascinating exploration of design and communication.

I felt a bit confusing at first, figuring out how to create fonts and not just limit our design in a horizontal or vertical way. However by practicing and getting feedbacks from my lecturers, Mr Vinod I learned and improved along the way.

OBSERVATIONS

I found out that Advanced Typography isn't just about basic fonts, it's about creating a hierarchy that guides the reader's eye through the content. For example, experimenting fonts with object or styles where nobody has thought before or discover fonts from an unexpected object. Besides, I also discovered how to be more self observation, info digestion and to have a better self reflection in the current semester as Mr Vinod wanted to train our self observation and solving problem skills as a designer.

I also started noticing the tiniest detail or object to the things we see in our everyday life which can be used in Advanced Typography as well. For instance, from a leaf pattern to advertisement billboards, signs, logos, websites and books. It's like undercovering or seeing something I once didn't even pay a slightest attention to even though it was there all along.

FINDINGS

One of the most profound revelations during this learning experience was understanding the power that a fonts hold in sending out messages to the readers. Fonts are not just a mere characters, they have their own styles and attitudes that can shape the tone, mood, and perception of a written content. From the elegance of serif fonts to the modernity of sans-serif, each typeface carries a unique personality.
