    INTRODUCTION

    PROJECT 2⇒ CHANNEL BUMPER

For our second project, Mr Fauzi introduced Chanel Bumper to us which we synthesise the knowledge gained in task 1 for application in task 2. We are expected to demonstrate ability to explore and generate an abstract channel bumper in any creative approach with consideration of good audio tempo and visually compelling video.

For this task, we are required to,

    • Students are to use information for any proposed channel (*existing or fictional) create mood-board that reflects their concept/idea style-guide that conveys final look and feel
    • storyboard animatics explore appropriate audio to uplift the motion tempo.
    • Students will start with sketches and test a wide range of conceptual ideas through digitization using the appropriate software.
    • Students conclude by selecting and presenting their personal design interpretation in the instructed format

    PROJECT 3⇒ CHANNEL IDENTITY

For our third project, Mr Fauzi introduced Chanel Identity to us which we synthesise the knowledge gained in task 1 and 2 for application in task 3. Students are to continue with previously chosen channel in task 2 to create a channel ident motion graphic video.

For this task, we are required to,

Students are to use information for any proposed channel (existing or fictional)
    • create moodboard that reflects their concept/idea
    • style-guide that conveys final look and feel
    • storyboard
    • animatics
    • explore appropriate audio to uplift the motion tempo
Students will start with thumbnail sketches and test a wide range of conceptual ideas through digitization using the appropriate software. Students conclude by selecting and presenting their
proposed channel bumper interpretation in the instructed format.

    RESEARCH

To have head start, I started doing some research on Youtube.

    Coca-Cola | 4K Commercial | Product Video

    Orange Juice Commercial Example

    Strawberry Milkshake

    Energy Drink Adv

    MOODBOARD

After doing some research and having some idea, I started on researching on the product I interested in doing. I wanted to do something on a fruity side therefore, I research on Vida. Besides, I also came out of a second idea on doing a motion graphics on a UI platform which is Youtube Premium. However after getting feedbacks from Mr Fauzi, I decided to do a motion graphics for the brand So Tinge by Spritzer.

    STORYBOARD

After researching about the product and finishing the moodboard, I continue on progressing on the storyboard. I started drafting for the Vida and Youtube Premium ideas.

For Vida, I designed it to started with a japanese garden with a cherry blossom tree as Vida originates from Japan. After that, I designed the start to imitate an opening can, filling glass and human enjoying drink action therefore having the water waves and fruits bursting out. After that is more on a display of the flavours, packaging as well as the ingredients of the drink.

    Figure 1.1 Storyboard For Vida

For Youtube Premium, I designed it to start by strolling through an UI of a webpage. After that, I designed it to have the usual advertisement videos with a counting down skip button right below. Then, I designed the motion graphics to state the benefits of having Youtube Premium.

    Figure 1.2 Youtube Premium

However, Mr Fauzi stated that Youtube Premium's idea is quite competitive while there are lot of past work on Vida on Youtube. Therefore, I decided to make a motion graphic video on So Tinge By Spritzer. I recycled the Vida's idea and used it in this storyboard.  I designed it to started with forests and mountains background as Spritzer markets it's mineral water is sourced from tropical rainforest in Taiping, Perak. After that, I designed the start to imitate an opening can, filling glass and human enjoying drink action therefore having the water waves and fruits bursting out. After that is more on a display of the flavours, packaging as well as the ingredients of the drink.

    PROCESS

After drafting out the storyboard, I started on creating the elements I needed in Adobe Illustrator. I begin with drawing out of the elements needed and background needed in Adobe Illustrator.

Figure 1.4 Preparing Elements In Adobe Illustrator

After that, I save all the vector file as png and import it into Adobe After Effects. Then, I proceed the editing progress. I started with the intro of the tropical forest and the logo for the product.

    FEEDBACK

    WEEK 6

    • The first idea which is for the product Vida, there quite a number of project in Youtube already therefore advice to not do the same thing if you dont think your work can outshine theirs.
    • For the second idea which is for Youtube Premiere, the competition out in the industry is quite high as well therefore it's not advisable to do.

    REFLECTION

Working on Channel Bumper & Channel Identity has been a fun ride where I got to enhance my skills and knowledge in Adobe After Effect. Besides, it was new experience as it was my first time learning to do motion graphics for a product branding. Moreover, we have the opportunity to analyze and explore different type of brands and see how profesional markets their product. This project was challenging yet interesting for me as I need to combine the motion graphics skills learned however with the guidance I got from Mr Fauzi and my friends, I managed to finish the tasks.
