REFLECTION

EXPERIENCES

Learning Immersive Video Production was quite a rewarding experience for me as I get to start from brainstorming ideas to writing proposals to finally shooting and editing 360° videos, I was able to explore a completely different side of storytelling. It felt like stepping into a new world of immersive media where I wasn’t just creating content, but designing experiences.

At the beginning, I found the process of planning and writing proposals a bit confusing. I wasn’t sure how to translate abstract ideas into a structured immersive concept. However, through constant practice and guidance from my lecturer, Mr. Martin, I started to understand how to shape a strong narrative while considering the technical aspects of 360° video. Over time, I gained more confidence in translating my ideas into a spatial format that made sense in an immersive environment.

OBSERVATIONS

Throughout the project, I discovered that Immersive Video Production isn’t just about filming scenes, it’s about crafting experiences that place the viewer inside the story. Unlike traditional video, 360° shooting requires a different mindset. I had to think about camera placement, scene composition, and audience perspective in all directions, not just what’s in front of the lens.

I also realized how important teamwork is in immersive productions. From idea pitching and scriptwriting to location scouting and shooting, every decision we made as a team affected the final experience. The collaborative process taught me how to listen to different creative inputs and combine them into a unified vision. Through this, I gained a deeper appreciation of how immersive storytelling works both technically and emotionally.

FINDINGS

One of the most eye-opening parts of this project was learning how powerful immersive media can be in capturing attention and conveying emotion. 360° video is more than a technical trend, it’s a way to engage viewers on a deeper level by surrounding them with the story. I discovered that even without high-end equipment, we could still create compelling immersive content by focusing on strong ideas and thoughtful execution.

A particularly valuable part of the process was getting the opportunity to use and experiment with the Insta360 Pro 2 camera. It was my first time working with professional 360° equipment, and it gave me hands-on insight into how immersive video technology functions in a real production setting. From understanding its multiple lens system to adjusting camera settings and planning our shooting direction, the experience was both exciting and educational.

This project helped me understand the future potential of immersive storytelling, especially in areas like education, awareness campaigns, and interactive art. From writing structured proposals to managing the creative direction and editing in post-production, every step taught me new skills. Most importantly, it gave me the confidence to approach immersive media with both creativity and purpose.
